Frostjaws padded out of the barn, and stretched hugely. The she-cat ought to do some hunting, though she knew she is not quick enough. Determined, Frostjaws thought, No way! I have to hunt somethin! We are mighty kittypet warriors. Clinging to that thought, the elder sniffed the air.

Frostjaws hissed over her back and turned back again, inhaling the mouthwatering scent of mouse. Just watch and see, Starlingscar! she thought. Frostjaws stalked after the mouse, only stepping on a cracking twig which scared the mouse away. She chased after it, tearing into brambles and finally giving it a death bite on the neck. Frostjaws looked back and saw the barn in the distance. Holding the mouse in her jaws, she slowly made her way back to the Elder's Barn.

Frostjaws ran faster as she neared the barn.

Beigefur scented vole. She held it in her jaws , and carried it to camp .

Beigemask was timid, shy and quiet. She sat watching everything going on. Her black stripe on her eyes made her obvious and being the center of attention often made her embarrassed. Beigemask yawned and watched the kits, flicking one ear in amusement. Because she had just come to the Clan, everything fascinated her. Leaders having nine lives made her mystified. Patrols made her surprised. But she was loyal and fast, good at hunting but poor in battling.
